Zinc-Oxide/ Eugenol Cement description

Zinc-Oxide/ Eugenol Cement (Liquid)

characteristic:

(1) Strength: The strength is relatively low. The compressive strength of the ordinary type is in the range of 25-35Mpa, which is not enough to withstand the chewing force. When it is used as the base. Still need to pad a layer of zinc phosphate cement on it. The compressive strength of the enhanced type is higher, in the range of 45-55MPa. my country's pharmaceutical industry standards stipulate that the compressive strength of zinc oxide clove oil cement should not be less than 25MPa.

(2) Coagulation time: The coagulation time is 3 to 10 minutes. After mixing, the coagulation can be accelerated in the humid environment of the oral cavity.

(3) Solubility: It is soluble in water and saliva, and has a higher solubility in water, second only to calcium hydroxide cement, mainly due to the precipitation of clove oil. However, the volume shrinkage of zinc oxide clove oil cement is small (0.1%) during the solidification process, and the tightness with the cavity wall is the best among the base materials in the short term, so it is often used as a temporary sealing material.

(4) Effects on dental pulp: Among the base materials, it is the least irritating to dental pulp, and has massage, anti-inflammatory and bacteriostatic effects, and can protect dental pulp from zinc phosphate cement and thermal and electrical stimulation. Therefore, it is often used as a base material for deep cavity close to the pulp and as a root canal filling material. Zinc Oxide Clove Oil Cement can also be used for pulp capping of small puncture points.
